I am currently in grade 10, my third year at MIS. My project focuses on two aspects: historical insights into Native Americans and my studies in Computer Science. My idea is to present the history of Native Americans with the help of AI. I am currently working on a website and a VR gallery.
About my life story: my mother is Czech, and my father is Egyptian. I was born in Germany, and my parents instilled in me a sense of injustice and support for disadvantaged peoples. Like my parents, I am a devout Muslim. When I was little, I always loved nature. I received a book about Native Americans as a child, which I adored and acted out with my younger brother. I was deeply inspired by the Native American way of life and wisdom.
I felt called to inspire people who may have ‘lost’ themselves in life to be proud of their origins and to provide hope for the future. Yes, it may not be as extensive as your work in school, but perhaps it will be a small contribution, nonetheless. I am happy to find openness towards different cultures at MIS. You feel comfortable and can express your thoughts openly in class, unlike in the regular German schools I attended, where I learned what one-sidedness and intolerance mean.
I can imagine that many people still don’t have enough information about Native Americans, the entire colonial history, and its consequences.
It is equally important to dedicate oneself to Native Americans today. How do they live? What social structures do they have? What ideas characterize their lives? What do they wish and envision for the future? Do they have political ambitions? Are they in contact with one another?
From various contributions, I see that they have been let down by the government.
I founded the movement “United Natives Alliance” to advocate for the rights of Indigenous peoples, as I realized how important it is to raise their voices and support their causes. During my research for my project on the history of Native Americans, I became aware that they have been oppressed and marginalized for many years. There are still significant injustices and challenges they face, and I want to actively contribute to changing these conditions.
I believe that Native Americans not only have the right to live in their own culture and identity but also the right to be heard in political decisions that affect their lives. The “United Natives Alliance” aims to create a network that addresses the concerns of Indigenous communities, connects them, and provides a platform for them to advocate for their rights.
The stories I have learned about Native Americans have deeply touched and inspired me. I want to help others recognize the beauty and richness of their cultures while fighting for justice and equality. It is crucial that we amplify the voices of Native Americans in the political arena, consider their experiences and perspectives, and ensure they play a central role in decision-making processes.
Through the “United Natives Alliance,” I hope to bring about positive change by standing together for the rights of Indigenous peoples, respecting their way of life, and promoting the acknowledgment of their history and culture. Only in this way can we create a fairer and more respectful coexistence.
